ABOARD THE CRUZ CAMPAIGN AIRCRAFT (AP) - Except for the crumbs on his shirt, Ted Cruz's doughnuts are gone.
With the Iowa caucuses over, the US presidential race heads to New Hampshire.
Among Republicans, the evangelical appeal of Ted Cruz beat the brashness of Donald Trump, who barely squeezed by Marco Rubio. "And South Carolina is going to play such a pivotal role in the next three weeks".
Here is what can apparently be said for sure about Iowa: Ms. Clinton won 23 delegates to Senator Sanders' 21, and Senator Cruz won eight delegates to the seven apiece of his top two opponents.
The former representative, known for his sassy commentary on Twitter, also noted earlier in the evening, "The best thing about the Iowa Caucus is that it only happens once every four years".
"He has fought tirelessly to repeal Obamacare, to stop Obama's lawlessness and to protect life and marriage", Cruz said.
"We aren't getting overconfident".
Mr Rubio hurriedly declared a moral victory on Monday night (US time).
In the statement, Duncan referred to a lesson from his grandfather about it best to judge a man not by his words but rather by his actions.
When Cruz spoke to supporters around 10 p.m. Monday his was not just declaring victory in Iowa, he was focused on the future.
First they must persuade New Hampshire voters, many of whom have yet to settle on a candidate. "South Carolina is the buckle of the Bible Belt, and 78 percent of South Carolinians profess to be Christians".
And, with his New Hampshire audience in mind, Cruz pointed specifically, to the state's role in sending Reagan to the White House.
"The Granite State shocked this country by giving Reagan the victory". And based on his experience with Bush, he's not taking anything for granted.
Huffmon said the GOP field may narrow after results from New Hampshire. Rival Ted Cruz, a strong ideological conservative candidate, pulled ahead of Trump's 24 percent of the vote with a larger share of 27.7 percent.
It started on the 2000 campaign.
Having Terry Sullivan, a S.C. political veteran run Rubio's campaign, is an advantage in the state with the South's first primary, but Rubio said he is familiar with SC himself.
"They're Southerners, they're evangelicals, they're military veterans, they're gun owners".
"I was laughing watching some of the media coverage, some of the interviews afterwards where everyone was saying what do you think about the unbelievable third place finish of Marco", Cruz said.
He ends the discussion only after a senior aide whispers into his ear, "Senator, we're truly about to land".
Cruz went on to say "I want to tell everyone to get ready, strap on the full armor of God, get ready for the attacks that are coming".
"We're gonna have fun", he says.
