I won't spoil the film for those who haven't seen it, but all I'll say is Aronofsky's film is the cinematic equivalent of Marmite.
In no rush: Jennifer Lawrence, 27, told E!
As time goes on, Lawrence's character starts to become suspicious of the man and his odd family, and also of her own husband. News reporter Catt Sadler, and the two talked about #motherhood in light of her new flick "Mother!".
The movie star just suffered through the worst wide opening weekend of her entire career with new film mother!
"I do what I can", she disclosed.
The film centers on Jennifer Lawrence, a lovely, naive young woman newly married to an older writer (Javier Bardem) suffering from writer's block, and the two settle down into the writer's secluded home.
Perhaps that is why his latest feature, the Jennifer Lawrence-starring mother! is generating such mixed reactions. I don't think that's how it's supposed to work! Michelle Pfeifer and Ed Harris draw others to the remote house in what amounts to a home invasion.
"Yeah, I would like to have kids one day, but I don't really know my layout of my future, but I definitely have maternal stirrings". The trailers also play up blood on the floor and eerie happenings in the basement, but again, in the movie, they're less frightening and more curious.
"I'm taking (a break)", she revealed. The things she does in mother! are more mentally and physically taxing than anything she has attempted before and nearly seem like a blatant middle finger to safe studio films.
"It came out of living on this planet and sort of seeing what's happening around us and not being able to do anything", Aronofsky told Variety.
Earlier this week I spoke with Handel on the phone, and he admitted that Aronofsky wanted Jennifer Lawrence's character to represent the Earth, while then critiquing the various ways that we have damaged it. You kind of know it's coming by then, but the first really jarring violent scene includes people getting shot at close range.
