There is a new USA champion: Baron Corbin.
Theres a sizeable gap between now and Survivor Series, the next pay-per-view "SmackDown" will be involved in alongside "RAW". Hopefully, when they got backstage, they let out a huge "follow that!" Orton slid away from the hold before he could pull it off, stood up, and caught Rusev with an RKO.
From a purely athletic perspective, this match has the potential to be one of the best on the card, as both of these guys are great in-ring performers who "bring it" almost every night.
WWE Hell in a Cell 2017 didn't close out with the WWE Championship match. Not for the first time this year, these teams have again set the bar for tag match of 2017. Not even close, because Owens, who placed a batted McMahon on an announce table, chose to climb the 20-foot cell.
Many fans remarked how the SmackDown Tag Team Title match stole the show from the get-go and it's easy to see why.
The fight card is made up of matches that resulted from scripted storylines and have been predetermined by WWE's "SmackDown Live" program. Champion Jinder Mahal puts up the WWE Championship against Japanese legend, Shinsuke Nakamura and SmackDown Women's Champion Natalya will face her long-time nemesis Charlotte Flair in what should be an outstanding war of wills. There was the occasional comedy you expect from the New Day - trombones aplenty - but the storytelling here was impeccable. Charlotte would then return from helping her father with his medical issues and become the new #1 Contender by defeating Carmella, Becky Lynch, and Tamina. Sadly though, the WWE Title match was disappointing as was the WWE Women's Title match too. I just hope this is better, but I'm still leaving those hopes at the door. Throw in the fact that Bryan adding a third man to the match actually screws over Styles way more than it does Baron Corbin, and you've got the makes of a botched build.
Exciting, physical, innovative - this match had a bit of everything and all four men can be proud of the way they have redefined the SmackDown tag team division over the last few months.
JOHN POWELL: If Owens is moving back into the title picture, it just makes sense that the King of Strong Style captures the title here. The Undertaker's 19-match win streak appeared to come to end, only to see him kick out just before the three-count. The stacked card will feature several matches contested inside the Hell in a Cell structure. Corbin quickly got into the ring, tossed Styles out, and pinned Dillinger himself to earn his first title in the company.
Mahal showed off his strength early, tossing Nakamura into the ring post and over the barricade into the WWE Universe. Work it, work it, and work it. Natalya worked over Charlottes leg pretty good before getting disqualified for using a chair.
# Randy Orton defeated Rusev via pinfall. With the fans screaming "This is awesome" chants throughout the match was a reminder what Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens are putting in there heated up the feud.
Randy Orton beat Rusev, while Bobby Roode won against Dolph Ziggler.
